Gifted Education Extension Certificate
The Individual Evaluation for Additional Certificate Pathway for Gifted Education Extension is available to teachers who already hold a valid New York State Teaching Certificate and have earned a Master's degree but wish to pursue additional certification.

What are the program requirements?
Prerequisites for this program are:
- a valid base teaching certificate,
- a master's degree,
- fingerprint clearance.
This pathway does not require a practicum, field study, observations or student teaching. Teachers who are NYS certified do not need to complete student teaching again when they are applying for additional certification. - Identifying characteristics of gifted students
- Tools and methods for identifying and assessing gifted students
- Learning environments for students who learn differently from classmates
- Curriculum design for gifted students
- Collaborating with other school staff to provide individualized instruction
