Cardiovascular Technology Student Receives Prestigious National Scholarship
Molloy University Cardiovascular Technology student Nina Oddo has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship Award, presented by the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE).
The prestigious scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, dedication to the profession, and a strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular care. Selected from a highly competitive pool of nominees from across the country, Oddo's recognition places her among a distinguished group of future cardiovascular imaging professionals.
As part of the honor, Oddo recently attended the ASE 2026 Scientific Sessions in Colorado, where she represented both Molloy University and its Cardiovascular Technology Program while engaging with leading clinicians, researchers, and educators in the field of echocardiography.
The Alan D. Waggoner Student Scholarship Award is made possible through support from the ASE Foundation and honors students who exemplify academic excellence and professional promise. Named for one of the field's most respected educators and leaders, the award reflects the high standards and commitment to excellence that define the next generation of cardiovascular sonographers.

Oddo's success also highlights the strength of Molloy's CAAHEP-accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program, which prepares students to become skilled healthcare professionals in the growing field of cardiovascular imaging. Through a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory learning, and extensive hands-on clinical experiences, students develop the knowledge and technical skills needed to evaluate and care for patients with cardiovascular disease.
Molloy's program offers a flexible blend of online, hybrid, and in-person learning, allowing students to balance their studies while gaining meaningful real-world experience at affiliated clinical sites. Working alongside experienced healthcare professionals, students build confidence, refine their skills, and prepare for success in a variety of healthcare environments.
Graduates of the program are prepared to pursue careers in hospitals, private medical practices, and outpatient clinics. They are also eligible to apply for national registry examinations in Ultrasound Physics, Echocardiography, and Vascular Technology, leading to credentials such as Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT).
As the demand for highly trained cardiovascular imaging professionals continues to grow, student achievements such as Oddo's demonstrate the opportunities available to those pursuing careers in this vital area of healthcare.
