Accounting Alumnus Well Prepared for Career Success
Molloy University’s Business Program continues to prepare graduates for success in competitive fields, and recent alum Michael Panasci ’25 is a shining example. After graduating in May 2025, Panasci passed the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam and is now working as an Assurance Staff at Ernst & Young (EY), one of the world’s leading professional services firms.
Panasci credits Molloy’s emphasis on real-world experience and internship opportunities for helping him achieve his goals. “Molloy is a wonderful school. I can't say enough about the business program. They push you into internships. The professors have all had real-world experience, which is why I came here,” he said.
One professor who made a lasting impact was Professor Maury Schneider, who taught Intermediate Accounting. Panasci shared, “Professor Schneider was really helpful in drilling in a lot of the accounting concepts that I had learned in Accounting I and II.”
Professor Schneider brings decades of industry experience to the classroom, having worked in public accounting for a top ten accounting firm as well as middle office accounting and operations at JP Morgan, Bankers Trust, Deutsche Bank, and Merrill Lynch. He has also served as a personal financial planner and consultant and even held the role of CFO for multiple hedge funds. “At Molloy, we believe students learn best when theory meets practice,” said Schneider. “My goal is to share insights from my years in accounting and finance, so students understand how these concepts apply in the real world.”
Schneider also praised Panasci’s dedication and leadership, “I had no doubt that Michael would be successful on the CPA exam, and I have no doubt that he will thrive at anything he chooses to do. He has a great attitude and work ethic and is a leader amongst his peers.”
Internships were another key factor in Panasci’s success. Before joining EY, he gained hands-on experience in internal audit at Veeco, a manufacturing company, which helped him secure a major internship with Ernst & Young. “I feel like that helped me get my big internship with Ernst & Young,” Panasci noted.
Now, as he begins his career at EY, Panasci is looking ahead with confidence: “I am looking forward to learning and growing at EY and to apply what I gained throughout my time at Molloy.”
Molloy congratulates Michael on his accomplishments and is proud to see how the Business Program’s focus on internships and faculty expertise continues to open doors for graduates.
