Business Career Services

Our Business Career Coordinator, Kisha Chandler, is available to assist students with their individual business career needs.

The Coordinator works individually with students to help them create resumes, write cover letters, and develop interviewing skills. Additionally, the Coordinator helps students attain professional certifications for demonstrating skills in, for example, Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) and Microsoft Excel.

Our Business Career Coordinator is available to meet with all business students (undergraduate and graduate) as well as alumni and can assist them with internship and job placement.

The School of Business provides many services to students that supplement those offered by Molloy's Career Center. For example, we offer students opportunities to participate in a wide array of business career events. Throughout the year, we host prominent speakers and alumni who provide insight on careers in various business fields. These events allow students to learn about particular roles within industries and build relationships with working professionals.

 Business Internship Program FAQ's

  • My family owns a small marketing firm, would I be able to intern there?

Most family-owned businesses are not accepted. It can be a conflict of interest for students to work at a business owned by a family member or close acquaintance. Meet with the business career coordinator to discuss. If you currently work at a family-owned business there may be an alternative.

  • Can I use my current job as an internship for college credit?

If the company you work for has an internship/training program, you may apply for it in addition to your current job position; however, the purpose of an internship is to gain a practical learning experience in a specific field of interest and to try something new.

  • Do I have to be enrolled in a School of Business degree program to take the business internship course?

Yes. Our business career coordinator is happy to help all students enrolled in a School of Business degree program.

  • How will I travel to my internship?

The college does not provide transportation. It is each student’s responsibility to arrange transportation to and from their internship to ensure they meet their hourly required commitment.

  • Can I get credit for an internship I had last summer?

No. An internship cannot be used for academic credit without prior approval by the business career coordinator and enrollment in the internship class.

Advanced planning is required, so please visit the Business Career Coordinator located in the School of Business office.

  • Can I find an internship on my own?

Yes, you can; however, all internships must be approved by the business career coordinator, if you intend on registering for the internship course.

  • I tried to register for the Business Internship course online but couldn't, why?

You cannot register for the internship class online. You must meet with the business career coordinator, submit required documents, and receive approval. If it is approved the business career coordinator will ensure you are registered for the course.

  • Do I have to know exactly what I want to do in the business field?

No. An internship is the opportunity to explore and experience different career fields to figure out what you enjoy. We encourage you to explore multiple internships during your academic journey Contact the business career coordinator to explore career options. Some firms will allow you to intern as early as freshman year.

  • How do I prepare for an internship?

Plan ahead. Before planning your course schedule, consider which semester would be best for you to intern. Do not wait until senior year as that might impact your graduation year. You should also meet with the business career coordinator to discuss your interests and deadlines and review your resume and cover letter.

  • How much time does an internship involve?

You must work a minimum of 120 hours at your internship to fulfill the class requirement. Depending on the internship start date, it will be around 8 to 15 hours per week; however, this also depends on the employer. Internship employers are usually flexible, so discuss hourly expectations with them beforehand. You will also need to set aside time to complete your internship class assignments.

  • How do I get started?

Make an appointment with the business career coordinator. They will explain the process and help you get started.

  • When does the internship end?

Interns must complete their required hours by the end of the semester.
