Pediatric Nursing Skills

Through lecture and hands on skills, students will learn how to gather a pediatric health history, utilize examination techniques specific to pediatrics, and apply common developmental assessment tools appropriate to the patient’s age from birth through late adolescence.
Participants will review the major body systems and how to perform a head-to-toe physical examination. Participants will master assessment skills to identify normal and abnormal findings in children using inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation. The target audience is the RN and ANP looking to return to the workforce. The course is typically offered twice per year for four (4) evenings at our Rockville Centre campus.
