Required NYS Workshops

- School Violence Prevention & Intervention Workshop
- Child Abuse Identification & Reporting Workshop (NEW as of September 1, 2025)
- DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) Workshop (You will not receive a recommendation from Molloy for certification without proof of DASA)
Internship
- Completion of 250 cumulative hours (SBL) or 150 (SDL)
- Twelve (12) credits for SBL and six (6) credits for the SDL are to be completed before enrollment in the Internship.
In order to enroll in the Internship course, a candidate needs to:
- Secure placement(s)
- Have a signed commitment from the district(s) or school(s) as indicated in the Internship Handbook. The mentor must be a certified School Building Leader for SBL internship or a certified School District Leader for SDL internship.
Certification
New York State Teacher Exams Required: Register for exams ASAP at: http://www.nystce.nesinc.com/
- SBL/SDL Certification Exam (2 parts)
- EAS (Educating All Students Exam)
Registration
- Register for next course(s) required as suggested by SBL/SDL coordinator. You will receive an email to your Molloy account about halfway through the semester with guidance regarding your next courses.
Graduation
- In order to receive a university recommendation for certification, you must apply for
- Apply online in Lion’s Den by the deadline.
- DASA and any other required NYS Workshops must be completed and uploaded to TEACH.
- You must send the “overview” page showing the completed internship hours for the program (250 hours for SBL and 150 hours for SDL).
Important Reminders
- You MUST pass 5680 in order to continue with the SBL program. An incomplete in 5680 also will prevent a student from moving on in the program.
- SBL/SDL candidates must attain a grade of B or better in all courses. Any candidate who receives a grade lower than B in any course must repeat that course.
- Setup your Lion’s Den and Molloy email and check regularly for important information. Personal emails should not be used for communication.
