Get to know the dedicated students who are Changing the Tide and making New Student Orientation great! These student leaders work hard behind the scenes to ensure our newest Lions feel welcomed, informed, and excited as they begin their journey at Molloy University. Through their efforts, they’re helping to shape a stronger, more connected campus community—one wave at a time.

    Year of Study: Sophomore

    Major: Finance

    Hometown: West Hempstead, New York

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy University because it is the most welcoming community I could have ever asked for. It has become like a big family to me, and I can proudly say that Molloy makes me happy, so I know I made the right decision. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: New Student Orientation was probably my favorite day at Molloy. At orientation, I was able to meet new friends, participate in multiple events, stay overnight, and get a taste of what college life looks like. It motivated me to come to Molloy, and it certainly encouraged me to live on campus. I will never forget how fun orientation was, so I would like to offer that same experience to the new incoming students.

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy because of its excellent nursing program, the fact that I was recruited for the Women's Track and Field team, it was the best option money-wise, and it's close to home. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: New Student Orientation, to me, is like a trailer of the next chapter of your life. I believe it sets the tone for the rest of your college experience. It's dipping your toes in the water of building new connections, getting to know your way around campus, living in the dorms, and learning about Molloy's resources.

    Why I chose Molloy: I loved the opportunities to grow in faith, be in a small-school atmosphere that still had a lot of activities, the strong academics, and the peaceful atmosphere. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: It means ensuring that students feel welcomed, have fun, and feel less afraid about starting college.

    Why I chose Molloy: From the moment I visited Molloy, I knew it was the perfect fit. I fell in love with the campus, the people, and the overall community. Everyone was so welcoming and made Molloy feel like home, even before I was officially enrolled. I couldn’t imagine my life anywhere else. My first year at Molloy has been nothing short of amazing, and I can’t wait for all the opportunities still to come. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: New Student Orientation is a time for incoming freshmen to get to know one another and learn more about Molloy. Starting college can be intimidating, but Orientation helps make the transition easier, and it’s also a time to have fun. I’ll never forget my own orientation experience; I met one of my closest friends during that time and will always be grateful for it. I’m truly honored to be part of this year’s orientation team and can’t wait to create even more memories.

    What does Orientation mean to me: New Student Orientation means being one of the first welcoming faces a new student sees as they begin their journey here. Having the opportunity to be a resource for someone just starting their college experience is incredibly special. I was fortunate to have that support when I began at Molloy, and I would love to provide the same experience for incoming students.

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy University for its renowned nursing program. I had heard prior through family, friends, and guidance counselors the type of reputation Molloy has in the nursing community. The program’s rigorous curriculum is designed to thoroughly prepare students for success on the NCLEX and for future roles as competent, compassionate healthcare professionals. I truly believe I made the right choice in pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Molloy!

    What Orientation means to me: New Student Orientation was reassuring to me in that I chose the right institution and career path, but it also started my journey in discovering who I was as a student, a friend, a coworker, and a leader in my community. Choosing a college and career path can be intimidating, but the New Student Orientation at Molloy creates a welcoming environment that recognizes each student’s unique journey while celebrating the start of an exciting new chapter for all. New Student Orientation not only means an academic introduction to Molloy, but it also starts the foundation of the type of student you'll be here, discovering who you are alongside hundreds of incoming students, and realizing the type of person you want to be at Molloy and beyond. I am honored to be a part of the New Student Orientation Team, and I can't wait to welcome you to Molloy!

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy primarily for the nursing program. After visiting the school, I felt that it had a lot of things I valued, such as a close-knit community and a convenient environment. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: NSO is very important for me because I loved mine, and it gave me such a positive light within myself and made me excited to come in the fall. I want other students to have that same experience and to truly enjoy Orientation and everything Molloy has to offer.

    Why I chose Molloy: I wanted to be near New York City so that I could pursue a career in music after college!

    What Orientation means to me: I met some of my favorite people through my orientation experience, both fellow first-year students and orientation leaders who continued to shape my journey throughout my years at Molloy. I want to be that same friendly, welcoming face for incoming students, the kind of person I was so grateful to find during my own orientation.

    What does Orientation mean to me: To me, it means creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for the incoming students where everyone feels like they belong. With this, new friendships are formed, and even a familiar face on campus becomes someone they know—someone they feel comfortable approaching or greeting in passing.

    Why I chose Molloy: As part of the Mentoring Latinas Program, I got to know Molloy more, but I personally wanted a small campus with a lovely and joyful environment that is involved with its community. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: To me, New Student Orientation is an opportunity for personal and professional growth. It's a chance to strengthen my leadership, social, and public speaking skills while helping new students have a great time. I also look forward to sharing tips for navigating their first year at Molloy, along with my own experiences, what worked for me and what didn’t.

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy because during my visit, I immediately felt the sense of family and community within the school. The school itself is pretty small, but it was a tight-knit community where I saw myself growing for the next four years.

    What does Orientation mean to me: For me, New Student Orientation is like dipping your toes into the ocean of the next four years of your life. It’s the first experience an incoming student has that transforms them from an interested high schooler into a true Molloy student—and it’s also a time to have fun!

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy because of its strong sense of community. It may be a smaller school, but in my eyes, that only makes it better. The professors actually get to know you, and you can form great friendships as you progress through your program!

    What does Orientation mean to me: To me, NSO means helping make someone’s first impression of Molloy as great as mine was.

This personal touch is what truly made Molloy stand out to me.

    What does Orientation mean to me: New Student Orientation holds a very special place in my heart. I had an amazing experience at my own Freshman Orientation, where I formed so many genuine connections. That experience inspired me to get involved with Orientation every summer since, so I could help give incoming students the same positive experience I had. I truly enjoy welcoming, supporting, and mentoring new students. I also love sharing the insight I have gained over the years to help ease their transition into college life at Molloy and make it feel like home.

    Why I chose Molloy: After attending Open House and Accepted Students Day, my decision to enroll at Molloy in the fall was solidified. The bright, inspiring energy on campus was infectious, it made visiting enjoyable and opened doors to possibilities I never imagined for my future. Since coming to Molloy, I’ve made countless new friends, connections, and memories that will last a lifetime. Everyone—professors, staff, and peers—genuinely has my best interests at heart and supports me every step of the way. Molloy has truly changed my life for the better. Not only am I thriving academically, but I’ve also grown into a stronger person and leader because of my decision to come here.

    What does Orientation mean to me: Being an Orientation Leader has easily become one of my favorite experiences at Molloy over the past three years. I love meeting new people and providing them with an orientation experience similar to the one I had as a new student. This role is more than just a position—it’s a chance to be part of someone’s first steps in a new chapter of their life. I’m excited to continue creating a welcoming, supportive, and fun environment for everyone we meet.

While it marks the beginning of a brand-new journey for incoming students, it’s also a time for returning students and Orientation staff to put our best foot forward and warmly welcome them to their new home.

    Why I chose Molloy: I chose Molloy for the opportunities it gave for my major. It has a wonderful education program where the professors really want to see you succeed. My parents are also alumni, so I had heard so many great things about Molloy, including how welcoming and friendly the atmosphere is. 

    What does Orientation mean to me: New Student Orientation is one of the best experiences I have gotten to be a part of since coming to Molloy. It is always such a fun time getting to know the incoming students, being there as a support system throughout the summer, and beginning of their academic journey. It is always so rewarding knowing that you get to be a part of students' journeys and their decision to go to Molloy!

I hope to give that same experience to incoming freshman and make them excited about taking the next step in their college careers.

    What does Orientation mean to me: I see it as a time to make friends, build connections, and get acquainted with the place you’ll be spending the next four years of your life.
