Molloy Violence Prevention (MVP)

Molloy Violence Prevention (MVP)  is an initiative dedicated to creating a safer university community that prevents gender-based violence through training, education, and awareness. The MVP Ambassador program is a peer educator and student leader program responsible for creating, leading, facilitating, and supporting efforts to promote healthy relationships in the campus community. MVP ambassadors participate in trainings, workshops, and other prevention efforts that increase community awareness of gender-based violence and offer opportunities to develop, build, and practice prosocial bystander intervention skills. MVP ambassadors work hard to help foster a safe university learning environment for all.

The MVP program and ambassadors are supervised by MVP Project Director Kelly Guerriero. Ambassadors participate in bi-weekly meetings where they will receive training on topics related to gender-based violence, such as healthy relationships, bystander intervention, stalking awareness, boundary-setting, and more. Ambassadors will develop programming ideas, learn about important resources, and collaborate with their peers.

Ambassadors are required to complete a minimum of 25 program activity hours throughout the fall semester. Program activities include participation in bi-weekly meetings, developing and facilitating programming, attending training, creating social media content, and completing assignments as needed. Upon successful program completion, ambassadors will receive a stipend.   

Any current Molloy student who has completed at least one semester can apply. Applicants should be committed to ending gender-based violence and creating a safer college community for all, both on and off campus. Previously, we’ve had MVP Ambassadors who are nursing majors, social work majors, education majors, psychology majors, and more. Public speaking experience is not required but preferred. If you have previously been impacted by gender-based violence, including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking, it is encouraged that you reflect on how this may impact your participation in the program prior to applying, and seek additional support if needed.
