Alumni Spotlight: Anika Chowdhury and Kristen Lacey

Molloy University’s School of Arts & Sciences continues to shape leaders in science and healthcare through rigorous academics, hands-on research, and a mission rooted in service. Two outstanding alumni—Anika Chowdhury and Kristen Lacey—exemplify how a Molloy education empowers graduates to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
Kristen Lacey: Advancing Pediatric Research
After Kristen Lacey graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in Biology, she began her career as a clinical research coordinator at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, contributing to groundbreaking studies on inflammatory bowel disease within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology. Her work helps improve treatments and outcomes for children facing complex gastrointestinal conditions. Reflecting on her journey, Kristen shares: “My experience at Molloy definitely prepared me for my work in my current field.”
She credits her success to the strong academic foundation and hands-on research experience she gained at Molloy. Under the mentorship of Dr. Noelle Cutter, Kristen explored chemo resistance in ovarian cancer and oxidative stress in Ironman triathletes—projects that deepened her scientific knowledge and ignited her passion for research. These experiences taught her perseverance and precision, qualities that now guide her work in pediatric clinical studies.
Her story reflects Molloy’s mission to prepare students for STEM careers rooted in service, compassion, and excellence. Kristen’s contributions to pediatric healthcare demonstrate how Molloy graduates lead with purpose and transform lives through science.
Anika Chowdhury: Compassionate Care in Pediatrics
Anika Chowdhury graduated in 2020 and majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry, while also participating in the Honors Program. Today, Anika is a Physician Assistant specializing in pediatric emergency medicine and outpatient pediatrics, providing compassionate care to children every day.
Anika always knew she wanted a career in medicine, but it was her time at Molloy that helped her discover the right path. Through rigorous academics, supportive faculty, and opportunities to explore different medical professions, she found her calling as a PA. She emphasizes, “My degree was exceptionally useful and critical in pursuing the profession I am in now.”
Like Kristen, Anika speaks highly of Dr. Noelle Cutter, whose mentorship and guidance were instrumental in shaping her academic and professional journey. Anika’s research experience at Molloy was equally transformative. As part of a four-person team, she published her work and earned first place in her division at the MACUB Conference. That collaborative experience taught her the value of teamwork in healthcare and influenced her decision to become a PA
Empowering Future Leaders
From research labs to pediatric care units, Kristen Lacey and Anika Chowdhury embody the values of Molloy University—academic excellence, ethical leadership, and service to others. Their achievements inspire current and future students to pursue careers that improve lives and strengthen communities.
