Rockville Centre, NY — Molloy University has announced the appointment of Michael Grasso ’06 as its new Director of Athletics following a national search. Grasso, who has served as Interim Director of Athletics since August 2025, will officially assume the role on June 8, 2026.
A proud Molloy alumnus and longtime member of the University community, Grasso brings nearly two decades of progressive leadership experience within Molloy Athletics. His appointment reflects both his deep institutional knowledge and his longstanding commitment to advancing the University’s mission through athletics.
Over the course of his career at Molloy, Grasso has held a series of important roles, including Senior Associate Athletic Director and Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Academics. Throughout his tenure, he has played a central role in shaping the student-athlete experience, overseeing compliance, academic success initiatives, and student well-being programming across 19 NCAA Division II teams.
As Interim Director of Athletics, Grasso provided steady leadership during a pivotal transition period, managing all aspects of the department’s operations, including a $2 million athletics scholarship budget, personnel oversight, and strategic planning. He also spearheaded fundraising and resource development efforts in collaboration with University Advancement, helping to position Molloy Athletics for continued growth.
Grounded in Molloy’s Dominican mission, Grasso is widely respected for his student-centered approach and his ability to build meaningful partnerships across campus and beyond. His leadership emphasizes competitive excellence alongside academic achievement, personal development, and integrity.
“This means so much to me, both personally and professionally,” said Grasso. “I am honored to serve Molloy University and to support our student-athletes as they pursue excellence in competition, in the classroom, and in their personal growth.”
“Mike’s deep connection to Molloy, combined with his proven leadership and vision of the future, make him exceptionally well suited for this role,” said Janine Biscari, Vice President of Student Affairs. “He understands what makes this community special and is committed to elevating the experience of every student-athlete.”
Molloy University looks forward to this next chapter for its athletics program under Grasso’s leadership, building on the strong foundation established during his time as Interim Director.
