Molloy Student-Athletes Lead ECC in Academic Excellence
Balancing practices, competition and coursework is no small feat, but for Molloy University's student-athletes, academic excellence remains a defining part of their college experience.
The East Coast Conference (ECC) announced its 2025-26 academic honors, recognizing 229 Lions on the Commissioner's Honor Roll. They also led the conference with six Academic Teams of Excellence, giving Molloy the highest total among ECC institutions. The University earned the most Commissioner's Honor Roll selections for the seventh consecutive year as well.
The Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher during the academic year, highlighting their commitment to strong academic performance while balancing the demands of collegiate athletics.
Molloy's six Academic Teams of Excellence awards were earned by the following programs, each of which posted the highest cumulative GPA in its respective conference-sponsored sport:
- Men's Cross Country
- Men's Lacrosse
- Men's Outdoor Track & Field
- Women's Outdoor Track & Field
- Softball
- Volleyball
For Michael Grasso, director of athletics, this recognition reflects the values that define Molloy Athletics.
"One of the things I'm most proud of is seeing our student-athletes succeed in the classroom," Grasso said. "To have 229 student-athletes earn a spot on the ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll and to lead the conference for the seventh straight year says so much about their dedication and the culture we've built together. I'm incredibly grateful to our coaches for emphasizing academics every day, and I'm proud of the commitment our student-athletes make to excel in every aspect of their college experience."
These achievements continue a tradition of academic excellence for Molloy Athletics and reflect the dedication of the University's student-athletes, coaches and faculty in fostering success both in the classroom and in competition.
