Molloy Hosts Region’s First Hands-Only CPR Training Kiosk
In recognition of National CPR and AED Awareness Week, Molloy University is proud to host the region’s first Hands-Only CPR training kiosk, launched by the American Heart Association (AHA) as part of its nationwide “Nation of Lifesavers” initiative.
The innovative kiosk provides an accessible, interactive way for members of the Molloy community and Long Island residents to learn lifesaving CPR skills. Designed to be mobile, the kiosk will travel to locations across Long Island over the next three years, expanding its reach and impact throughout the region.
Molloy was selected as a host site in recognition of its deep commitment to heart health and public safety through its ongoing HeartSafe initiatives. The University was recently designated a HeartSafe Campus, reflecting its comprehensive efforts to prepare students, faculty, and staff to respond effectively in cardiac emergencies. At the same time, the nearby Village of Rockville Centre earned designation as a HeartSafe Community, an achievement driven in large part by Molloy’s dedicated HeartSafe team and its outreach efforts.
The initiative is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Webster Bank, whose commitment to community health aligns closely with the program’s mission. Representatives from Webster Bank joined campus leaders and AHA officials to mark the occasion and underscore the importance of equipping everyday citizens with lifesaving skills.
The event also highlighted the extraordinary impact individuals can make when equipped with CPRtraining. The American Heart Association recognized Molloy nursing student Saige Colleluori for her courageous actions in performing CPR at a Levittown pizzeria, where she helped save a woman’s life. Her quick thinking and decisive response underscore the real-world value of CPR training and the critical importance of being prepared to act in emergencies.
In addition, the AHA honored Alexander Strom, a Webster Bank employee, who similarly used CPR to save a life at one of the bank’s branches—further emphasizing how community-wide training can create a network of lifesavers ready to act in critical moments.
Molloy’s HeartSafe team continues to lead efforts both on campus and in the broader community, promoting CPR education, AED accessibility, and emergency preparedness. The introduction of the Hands-Only CPR kiosk enhances these efforts by offering an immediate, hands-on learning experience that can prepare individuals to respond confidently in emergencies.
As National CPR and AED Awareness Week shines a spotlight on the importance of bystander response, Molloy University remains at the forefront of building safer, more prepared communities—one lifesaving skill at a time.
