Hispanic Counseling Center Honors Molloy’s President

Molloy University at the Hispanic Counseling Center GalaOn Thursday, September 25, Molloy University President James Lentini was honored at the 48th Annual Hispanic Counseling Center Gala, along with Stanley Bergman the CEO of Henry Schein Inc. The event was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club.

The mission of the Hispanic Counseling Center is to enhance the strengths of Long Island’s families and children through bilingual, bicultural counseling, prevention, vocational and educational services to enrich their lives, foster economic independence and nurture dreams for generations to come.

“I was pleased to be honored by the Hispanic Counseling Center at their annual Gala on behalf of Molloy University, where we are actively engaged in strategies to support our growing Hispanic student population,” said president Lentini.  “Hispanic students are the fastest growing population at Molloy, representing 31% of our undergraduate body.  We were proud to achieve status as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) in 2024, and our collaborations with organizations like the Hispanic Counseling center, 100 Hispanic Women, Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and others continue to grow.  These efforts align perfectly with Molloy’s Catholic, Dominican mission where every individual is welcomed, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.”

The Hispanic Counseling Center (HCC) is a multi service agency with culturally competent, fully bilingual and bicultural treatment and prevention services for mental illness, substance use disorder, and youth and family services.

The agency has successfully served a fast-growing client base and meets all the standards set by accrediting and funding agencies. Program services are available to anyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, or economic status. Proceeds from the Gala went to Benefit the Hispanic Counseling Center youth and family programs.
