Campus Ministries FAQs
What is Campus Ministries?
Campus Ministries lives out its Catholic and Dominican Mission in a pastoral way - all the ways outside the academic mission of the College. The person and example of Christ guides all that we do, and as such, we welcome people of all faiths to take part in the work that we do. In short, we are here for the welfare of everyone at Molloy College.
How do I sign up?
You don't have to "sign up" for Campus Ministries. You can take part in as many or as few of our programs and events as you like. Come into our office, give us a call, send us an email, or drop off one of the forms found in the Campus Ministries brochure at our office in the Public Square #390 and check off the programs you are interested in.
Do I have to be Catholic?
No. But for things like receiving Communion, or making one's confession, you should be Catholic. But, all are welcome to attend mass, prayer services, service events, and to come and relax in our lounge. Our office welcomes all people of goodwill.
Where is the Chapel?
Sacred Heart Chapel is right under the water tower next to the Hagan Center for Nursing. Mass takes place there every weekday at 12:15 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m. on Sundays while school is in session. The Chapel is also open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday. It is a wonderful quiet place to pray and contemplate. All are welcome.
Can Campus Ministries help if I am in trouble, or need help?
Absolutely. We have a Dominican sister, a married man and a married woman who are each here to help when you need us. We can just listen or we can assist you in finding the help you need.
What are the retreats like?
The retreats are overnight and are a great time to unwind and literally get away from it all. There are talks, activities, prayer, Mass and lots of food and free time for you to enjoy. It's also a great way to get to know other students. Most people say they come back from the retreats very refreshed.
What are the service projects like?
Each of the service projects is different, based upon what we are doing and who we are helping. They are all deeply rewarding, eye-opening and also a great deal of fun. They are among our most popular activities and some of them fill up very fast - so if there is something you are interested in doing, make sure you get your name in as soon as possible.
