Second Degree Nursing Program
The Accelerated Second Degree Nursing Program is designed for individuals with a bachelor's (or higher) degree in a non-nursing major, who wish to pursue a career as a professional nurse. This highly personalized program accepts students who may complete prerequisite courses at Molloy College, and is designed for those who benefit from flexibility in life/study balance.
Students are dually admitted into both the B.S. and M.S. in Nursing Programs, and are awarded a baccalaureate degree after successful completion of the undergraduate requirements. Permission to take graduate courses while completing the B.S. in Nursing is individualized according to GPA. After earning the B.S. in Nursing, students are eligible to sit for the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX-RN). Licensure as a registered nurse is needed in order to continue with graduate nursing courses after completion of the B.S. Students are required to have the equivalent of one year of full-time clinical experience as an RN prior to beginning specific graduate nursing courses with a clinical or experiential practicum requirement.
Please refer to the Undergraduate Course Catalog (PDF) for more details about this program.
Once the B.S. is earned, students may continue their studies and enhance their careers by completing their coursework for an M.S. in an advanced role in nursing.
The plan of study may vary, depending on the courses completed prior to enrollment. Here is a sample plan, for students who enter having completed all prerequisite courses.
