TESOL Certification Degree Programs

TESOL - Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
Molloy's approach to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) focuses on evidence-based contemporary pedagogy and current research that informs, authentic classroom practices to support teachers working with culturally and linguistically diverse multilingual learners throughout the United States. The course work incorporates a multimodal design infused with technology to support equity and inclusion in diverse learning environments. Our faculty members are highly-skilled classroom practitioners, internationally known researchers, and best-selling authors.

We offer three types of programs: (1) Master's Degree, (2) Post-Master's Degree, and (3) Individual Pathway to certification (for those who already hold a master's degree in another area). 12 credits of a language other than English are required to obtain certification.

The two Master's degree programs will be outlined below. For information on the Individual Pathway to certification, click here.

Master's Degree Programs in TESOL
At the master's degree level, we offer a 33-credit graduate TESOL program for certified teachers. For those who are not yet certified or are considering a career change to become teachers, we offer a 39-credit program. All our programs lead to New York State teacher certification in ESOL. If you live outside New York or plan to live outside New York after graduation, NYSED has reciprocity agreements with over 45 states for the purpose of teacher certification.

Our programs are offered both in-person hybrid or fully online to accommodate those looking for a more flexible schedule.  The courses in the online master's degree program are accelerated and run for 7-weeks.  These courses are not taught in "real time", meaning students do not have to attend at a given time. Students may log on at any time to take the course. However, there will be assignments that will be due at specific times. If you are looking for a more traditional option, we also offer a hybrid model, which incorporates both synchronous and asynchronous online and classroom instruction on campus. The courses in this program run for 13-weeks.

Schedule of Classes
All courses will be offered in a hybrid or asynchronous online format in the fall, spring, and summer sessions. Please click for the schedule of class.
