This 3-hour workshop is an introduction to the Sound Birthing Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth Model. An in-depth study of music for labor and birth, research, and best practices as well as positions, relaxation techniques, and other comfort measures paired with music are presented. Participants will learn foundations of the MTACB process, the protocol for creating Sound Birthing MusicTM playlists for labor and birth, and learn ways to use live music in pregnancy, labor, birthing and the immediate post-partum. Open to music therapists, students, and other health professionals. (3 CMTEs available for Board Certified Music Therapists.)
About the Presenter
Mary DiCamillo, EdD, MT-BC, Doula (DONA) is the founder and Clinical Training Director of Sound Birthing Music TM. This training program grew out of Mary's extensive doctoral and post-doctoral work in Pre and Peri-Natal Music Therapy. Mary has also led a group practice of Music Therapists working in this field. A leader in this field, Mary has a passion for sharing this work and helping to bring babies into the world in the most peaceful way possible. Mary also works as a teacher and a professional musician. She and her family reside in Southern California.

10:30 a.m. Break
10:50 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Functions of Music in Birthing, Sound Birthing Music Categories, Sound Birthing Music Playlists for Labor and Birth, Sound Birthing MTACB Treatment Process, Writing Womb Songs, Using Music and Singing to Support Bonding in the first hour after birth, Post Test
Educational Objectives of this Training Workshop
Upon completion of the workshop the participants will demonstrate knowledge and will be able to:
Identify the functions of music in labor and birth to decrease pain during labor and birthing (CBMT Board Certification Domain II A 2 af)
Describe the documentation skills for the 6 steps of the Sound Birthing Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth Treatment Process. (CBMT Board Certification Domain IV B 1)
Gain knowledge of the steps and progression of labor and birthing and how music can support the patient through this process. (CBMT Board Certification Domain I B 2)
Continuing Education Credit

This Sound Birthing Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth Workshop is approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists to award 3 Continuing Music Therapy Education Credits. The Provider Sound Birthing maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT Policies and Criteria for Continuing Music Therapy Education
NYS Licensed Creative Arts Therapists: LCAT
Molloy College is an approved provider for CE credit from NY State for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists: approval number CAT-0015. This program is offered for 3 hours of CEU credit for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists.

Refund Policy: A full refund will be granted as long as you contact us by February 24. Refunds will not be granted after February 24: however, substitutions can be made up until the day of the conference at no charge.
The conference will be given in the Larini Room (Room 290A) on the second floor of the Public Square Building on Molloy's Rockville Centre campus located at 1000 Hempstead Ave, Rockville Centre, NY, 11571.
