New Media and Digital Writing Workshop for High School Teachers
Please join us at Molloy College on Friday, March 10, 2017 from 9:45 a.m. - 2 p.m. to attend a New Media and Digital Writing Workshop for High School Teachers which will be held in the Hagan Center in Room 239 on Molloy's Rockville Centre campus.
New Media at Molloy Colleges empowers students to become digital media professionals, savvy users of emergent media and engaged digital citizens. "Author. Maker. Creator. Innovator. #MolloyNewMedia"
The workshop is designed to enhance existing pedagogy and approaches to new and digital media in the high school classroom. Professors Jamie Cohen and Matt Applegate will instruct teachers on contemporary new media and digital writing lessons and classroom approaches. Topics covered are new media theory, memes and digital culture, online tools, appropriate use of social media, and teaching approaches. A sample syllabus with course modules and rubrics will be provided as well as a digital teachers guide with annotated links and notes. 3 CTLE hours offered!
This conference is open to all high school teachers interested in learning or refining their knowledge of new media and digital writing skills for classroom use.
The $10 fee includes lunch and a flash drive filled with handouts and ideas for creating your own new media and digital writing skills course in your high school.
This conference is approved for 3 hours of Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE). Click here for further information on the new CTLE requirements.
Fee and Registration
The conference fee is $10. Registration is required. Seating is limited and you should pre-register for the conference by February 26, 2017. Register online or by phone, fax, mail, or in-person. The continuing education office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
