Financial Accounting for Non-Financial Managers

Offered in two three-hour evening sessions, usually in January and May.
This course is valuable for non-financial group leaders, project managers, program managers, department heads, and others from both the public and private sectors who wish to develop a financial toolkit to compliment their existing professional or technical skills. A working knowledge of financial principles and their application is essential for a manager to be effective. This course transforms financial and accounting language and concepts into decision making tools the non-financial manager can use successfully every day.
Participants learn to apply the fundamentals of finance to:

  • Improve budget management
  • Increase potential profits
  • Sell new ideas
  • Assess the financial viability of projects

This course will provide an introduction to basic accounting principles and financial statements for non financial employees.

Instructor: JAMES COOKE, has over 20 years of finance and accounting experience. He has worked for a number of organizations including: the Ontario Ministry of Finance, Morgan Stanley, the Institute of Management Accountants and is the former grant manager of the World Trade Center Disaster Relief Program.
