Clinical Nurse Specialist Adult Gerontology Certificate
This is for the APRN who want to add Clinical Nurse Specialty Adult Gerontology focus to their certifications, you can obtain a Post Masters Certificate as a CNS. The Clinical Nurse Specialist Adult Gerontology program offers registered nurses with clinical specialty opportunities to develop advanced practice nursing knowledge and unique organizational skills to positively impact three spheres of health care: direct patient care, nursing workforce, and organizational systems.
The CNS program is a distance learning program with 8 courses that can be completed in seven consecutive semesters. Three core courses introduce CNS students to theories of transformational leadership, reflective advocacy, and evidence-based research strategies. Three advanced practice core courses provide students with in-depth knowledge of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and physical assessment. Four Clinical Nurse Specialist courses provide role development and 500 clinical hours required for national certification. All practicum courses must be completed in-person within New York State. Finally, two elective courses may be used by students to support their clinical specialty or role-based knowledge.
