What is Educational Technology in Pre K-12 Education and beyond

Educational technology has changed the way students learn in the 21st century. It has helped change how teachers differentiate instruction and allows for student-centered learning. Students are more engaged in their learning using digital-age tools and are producers of their content using tools to communicate and collaborate effectively. Educational technology has been integrated in all classes since the introduction of the 1:1 initiative. Effective online teaching has assisted teachers in providing learning opportunities that are engaging, meaningful, and equitable. Using advanced integration models such as Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Technology Pedagogy and Content Knowledge (TPACK), and Substitution Augmentation Modification and Redefinition (SAMR), teachers are well prepared to design and develop effective instruction integrating technology throughout the curriculum.

In alignment with the National Educational Technology Plan, the International Society in Technology Education (ISTE) Standards, Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards, Professional Development Standards, and Next Generation Standards, it is essential to prepare educators for meaningful and effective educational technology integration.

We offer a dual degree program in Childhood Grades 1-6 and Educational Technology Grades Pre K-12 to prepare teachers to work in the integrated classroom setting.
