    Due to inclement weather, all Molloy locations are closed on Monday, January 26, and all in-person and online courses are canceled.

    SONHS Clinical Experiences: Undergraduate students in SONHS programs should not travel to clinical sites.  Undergraduate nursing students should contact their clinical instructors for alternate clinical assignments. Allied Health students follow directions of program or clinical director. Graduate nursing students and SLP students should not travel to clinical sites and should notify their preceptors and externship supervisors.

Hybrid and Online Course Modalities

Although all courses may be conducted differently, the following information describes what a student should expect when enrolling in one of the online or blended modalities at Molloy. 

 

Modality definitions

Hybrid Modalities: 

  • Hybrid Asynchronous - A course that combines traditional on-site meetings with asynchronous online/distance learning. 
  • Hybrid Synchronous - A course that combines traditional on-site meetings with synchronous virtual meetings and asynchronous learning activities. 

Online Modalities: 

  • Online Asynchronous - A course where all course content is delivered online with no required virtual or instructional site meetings. 
  • Online Mixed - A course where all course content is delivered online with scheduled virtual meetings combined with asynchronous learning activities. Synchronous live meetings will be communicated in the syllabus. 
  • Online Synchronous - A course where all course content is delivered online with scheduled virtual meetings for all class sessions. 

Traditional Modality:

The traditional modality is a course where activity is primarily delivered around scheduled instructional site meetings, which may use web-based technology as part of instruction. 

Additional Notes

  • To filter by Hybrid, Online or Traditional Modalities, go to the Course Search page and select from under the Meeting Type menu option. 
  • From the Search Results page, students should click on the course code link to see the full description and note about the course’s modality. 
  • If the note contains no reference to online or hybrid, the course's modality is traditional (face-to-face). 
  • Hybrid synchronous, online synchronous, and online mixed course options are offered for graduate courses unless approved by the academic department and school dean.
