The Office of Blended & Online Learning offers a wide range of online courses, workshops & webinars, and individual instructional design consultations designed to meet faculty where they are in their course design. All of our faculty development offerings address diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Professional Development Courses

The following are courses that the Office of Blended and Online Learning offers regularly throughout the year to develop faculty's online course design skills and application. View the BOL LibCal calendar for more information, specific dates, and registration.

Prior to enrolling in any course, it is highly recommended that faculty are proficient at using Canvas. For Canvas and technology tool training, please contact Technology Learning Services at tls@molloy.edu.

  • TLC (Teach, Learn Course Design Online)

    TLC is the required foundational course for all faculty teaching hybrid and online at Molloy. TLC teaches faculty about best practices of hybrid and online teaching and learning. 
    Modality: Online Asynchronous
    Length: 2 weeks
    Prerequisites: Canvas training

  • Advanced TLC (ATLC)

    Faculty will put their course design plans from TLC into action by building modules for an online course. 
    Modality: Online Asynchronous
    Length: 3 weeks
    Prerequisites: TLC certification and Canvas training

  • Reviewing Course Design with Quality Matters (RCDQM)

    Faculty learn to apply quality standards to online courses using Quality Matters (QM). QM is a continuous improvement model for assuring the quality of hybrid and online courses. 
    Modality: Online Asynchronous
    Length: 2 weeks
    Prerequisites: Canvas training

  • Accelerated Course Essentials (ACE)

    ACE focuses on best practices in developing accelerated courses. This course will cover setting course expectations, active learning strategies, aligned assessments, and ongoing resources. 
    Modality: Online Asynchronous
    Length: 1 week
    Prerequisites: TLC certification and Canvas training

  • Learning for All (LfA)

    LfA is based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which is a framework for learning designed to optimize teaching methods and provide equal access for all students by reducing barriers. 
    Modality: Online Asynchronous
    Length: 1 week
    Prerequisites: Canvas training

Workshops and Webinars

We offer interactive workshops and webinars on a variety of topics to provide faculty with knowledge, skills, and confidence to teach online or hybrid.  Topics include:

  • Applying and troubleshooting technology tools
  • Increasing student engagement
  • Improving accessibility of course content
