State Licensure and Certification Disclosures

Professional licensure and certification requirements vary from state to state. Although Molloy University has attempted to provide accurate and timely information by state, educational and other requirements may change. Additionally, many licensure boards require more than successful degree completion to obtain a license. These additional factors may include, but are not limited to, curriculum reviews by the licensing agency, criminal background checks, work experience, professional examinations, and additional training. Therefore, we encourage students to contact the appropriate licensing board or agency where they will seek licensure to familiarize themselves with the state educational and other licensing requirements for the profession or occupation in which they are interested.

Students should visit the Professional Licensure Directory of the National Council of State Authorization of Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA).

    Program Determination

The Assisted Living Technician (also referred to as a Personal Care Aide or Assisted Living Aide) role is regulated at the state level, and requirements vary widely by jurisdiction. States commonly require:

    • State-approved caregiver training
    • Minimum supervised or practical skills hours
    • Background checks and health clearances
    • Additional training for medication assistance, dementia care, or specialized populations
    • Compliance with facility-specific licensing rules

    DETERMINATION

This program provides entry-level, didactic (classroom/theory) training suitable for individuals seeking foundational knowledge for work in assisted living environments.

    However, because this program:

    • Does not include state-required supervised clinical or practical hours,
    • Is not recognized as a state-approved caregiver training program in any jurisdiction, and
    • Does not meet any state’s mandatory training, registry, or competency evaluation requirements, this program alone does not satisfy the educational or regulatory requirements for employment as an Assisted Living Technician, Personal Care Aide, or similar regulated role in any U.S. state or territory.

    It may be appropriate for:

    • Individuals with some prior caregiving or clinical exposure,
    • Currently working direct-care staff seeking foundational upskilling, or
    • Those pursuing private, voluntary, industry-recognized credentials.

    Critical Note on Employment

Employment in assisted living or residential care facilities often requires:

    • State-approved training programs
    • Supervised practical or skills-based instruction
    • Passing a state-mandated competency evaluation
    • Registry listing or background clearance

This online program provides didactic training only.

State and Territory Determinations – Assisted Living Technician

This program does not meet the mandatory state-specific educational, training, licensing, or registry requirements for regulated Assisted Living Technician/Personal Care Aide roles in any U.S. state or territory without supervised, hands-on clinical training.

  • Radiation Health & Safety for Dental Assistants

  • Dialysis Technician

Program: Dialysis Technician (Prepares for the NWCA Certified Dialysis Technician Associate (CDTA) Examination)

This disclosure is provided to ensure students understand the educational, licensing, and certification requirements associated with employment as a Dialysis Technician (also referred to as a Hemodialysis Technician) in the United States.

    Program Determination

The Dialysis Technician role is regulated at both the federal and state level. Under federal law (CMS regulations), individuals must obtain certification within 18 months of initial employment. Many states additionally impose specific requirements related to:

    • State-approved training programs
    • Mandatory supervised or practical clinical hours
    • State-level registration or credentialing processes

    DETERMINATION

This program is designed to support and advance currently employed medical-service professionals seeking to enhance their qualifications through a private, industry-recognized certification (NWCA CDTA).

While not intended to serve as a primary entry-level preparation pathway for first-time practitioners, it may be appropriate for individuals who possess some clinical exposure or limited hands-on experience and are seeking to develop competency for entry-level roles.

Because training approvals, supervised clinical hour requirements, and registration standards vary significantly across jurisdictions, this program alone does not satisfy the mandatory state-specific educational, licensing, or registry requirements in any U.S. state or territory to assume the role of Dialysis Technician.

    Critical Note on Employment

State regulations frequently require completion of supervised practical or clinical hours to qualify for employment or to sit for a national certification exam.

This online program provides didactic (classroom/theory) education only.

It does not provide, arrange, or guarantee any form of supervised clinical experience.

    State and Territory Determinations

This program does not meet state-specific educational or clinical requirements for Dialysis Technician licensure, registration, or employment in any U.S. state or territory.

The table below is provided solely to acknowledge that no state or territory recognizes this program as meeting its statutory requirements for the Dialysis Technician role.

  • Home Health Aide

Program: Home Health Aide (NWCA–CPCA Certification Preparation)

This disclosure ensures students understand the educational, training, and regulatory requirements associated with working as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or related direct-care roles (e.g., Personal Care Aide) within the United States.

Program Determination and the Federal 75-Hour Rule

The Home Health Aide role is regulated primarily at the state level, especially for employment in agencies that accept Medicare or Medicaid funding.

    Federal guidance requires:

    • A minimum of 75 hours of state-approved HHA training, including
    • At least 16 hours of supervised clinical/practical instruction,
    • before an individual may be employed as a Home Health Aide in federally funded agencies.

Many states impose additional requirements, including registry listing, background checks, competency evaluations, and specific curriculum standards.

    DETERMINATION

This program provides general industry-recognized didactic (classroom/theory) preparation for the NWCA-CPCA Certification. It is designed to support currently employed or experienced direct-care workers seeking to enhance their professional qualifications through a private industry credential.

    However, because this program:

    • Does not provide the federally required 75 hours of training, and
    • Does not include the required 16 hours of supervised clinical/practical instruction,
    • it does not meet the mandatory state-specific educational, licensing, or registry requirements in any U.S. state or territory for individuals seeking employment as a Home Health Aide through state-approved pathways.

This program may be appropriate for individuals who have prior caregiving or clinical experience, or who are currently working in non-licensed support roles and wish to build competency, but it is not intended as a full entry-level pathway for first-time practitioners.

    Critical Note on Employment

Employment as a Home Health Aide typically requires:

    • State-approved HHA training,
    • Mandatory supervised clinical hours, and
    • Formal competency evaluation and/or state registry placement.
    • This online program provides didactic education only.

It does not provide, arrange, or guarantee supervised clinical experience or meet state registry requirements.

    State and Territory Determinations

This program does not meet any mandatory state or territorial requirements for Home Health Aide education, training, certification, or registry placement.

Program: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Preparation

This online program prepares you for a career as a Sterile Processing Technician in settings like hospitals, surgery centers, and clinics.

Program Focus To succeed in this vital healthcare role, you'll master essential skills, including:

    • Medical Terminology: Understand and communicate effectively with clinical staff.
    • Anatomy & Physiology: Grasp the fundamentals of the human body.
    • Sterile Processing Techniques: Learn the core competencies of decontamination, sterilization, and supply management.

Certification Pathway Upon completion, you will be prepared for the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification, a two-step process sponsored by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA):

Provisional Certification: Graduates are eligible to take the CRCST exam immediately upon course completion.

Full Certification: To earn the full, non-provisional CRCST credential, you must complete 400 hours of documented, hands-on experience within six months of passing the certification exam.

    CRITICAL HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

This online program provides only the didactic (classroom/theory) portion of the training. It DOES NOT provide or guarantee the 400 hours of mandatory hands-on experience required by HSPA to achieve Full CRCST Certification. Students are fully responsible for securing the necessary externship, clinical, or employment experience required to obtain full certification and to qualify for employment.
