Sabbatical Committee Membership

A sabbatical is a leave awarded to a full‑time faculty member to pursue a substantial academic project in the humanities, arts, or sciences for the purpose of attaining professional growth which redounds to the benefit of Molloy College.

Faculty Members may apply for a sabbatical in the fall of their seventh year of continuous full-time teaching. Interested faculty are encouraged to read the Sabbatical Policy and may access the required forms on the Faculty Council webpage.

The Sabbatical Committee is responsible for:

  • Examining the sabbatical applications and proposals of faculty candidates

  • Recommending to the President of the College and Vice President of Academic Affairs/Dean of the Faculty the names of eligible faculty members for sabbatical

  • Initiating any changes in sabbatical policy to be presented for approval to the Faculty Council and subsequently to the faculty at large

  • Receiving/evaluating oral and written reports from sabbaticants upon completion of their sabbaticals.   The Sabbatical Committee consists of four elected full time faculty members and one faculty councilor
