How many credits can I transfer into this program?
At the discretion of the Ed.D. program director, up to six graduate level credits and three doctoral level credits may be transferred into the Ed.D. program. All transferrable credits had to be completed at the post-Master's level, in a field related to the program focus of the Ed.D., at a nationally accredited institution of higher education within the past five years. A grade of B or higher must be earned for the credits to be accepted.
How long is it going to take me to finish the program?
The program is offered on a part-time basis. Participants will complete six credits each semester. The cohort-based course work may be completed in three years, followed by the dissertation sequence, which will take a minimum of three additional semesters.
Can I start the program in the spring semester?
There will be no spring admission into the program. New cohorts will be begin each fall, starting in September 2015.
When will the doctoral classes meet?
The program is offered in an executive, blended format. Each course meets for 25 hours of face-to-face class time on three weekends per semester (Friday nights - Saturday mornings), with an additional 15 hours of online learning and five hours of field work.
Will there be a discount for Catholic school educators?
In each cohort up to two participants who work for a Catholic school or a related institution may be granted a 30 percent discount toward tuition. All other fees must be paid in full.

Will the program prepare me for New York State school building and school district administrator licensure?
No, the program is not designed to prepare candidates for such licensing. Please check the program goals and outcomes.
Will the GRE be required and what if I am not a good test-taker and get a low score?
The GRE is required to be considered for the program. The scores earned on the GRE will be considered as part of a comprehensive set of admission criteria.
I am not a teacher or administrator in the K-12 school system. Will I be considered for admission and will the program meet my needs?
While we anticipate that most participants will be educators in the K-12 context, the program is designed with a broad-based focus on leadership and diversity. See program goals and outcomes to determine if this Ed.D. is a viable option for you to reach your professional goals.
I have not been in graduate school for over 15 years. Do you think I can be successful in this program?
The program has rigorous admissions criteria, including a personal statement, written responses to a series of questions and an in-person interview. While we anticipate admission to this program to be competitive and selective, we are confident that our comprehensive approach to candidate selection will result in inviting the best prospective participants to join the program. Length of time elapsed since last attendance in school will not be a selection criterion.
