Program Description
Analytical Music Therapy training (AMT) is A MUSIC THERAPY ADVANCED TRAINING program which provides students and professionals the opportunity to achieve CERTIFICATION in this approach. Trainees will develop their professional identities as AMT practitioners through didactic and experiential learning, as well as engaging in and promoting global music therapy education. This training will be
offered through ON-LINE and IN-PERSON, INTENSIVE SESSIONS, and is designed to be flexible in scheduling and paced to meet individual trainee's needs. Regardless of where the trainees reside, they can engage in the coursework and when possible, receive instruction in multiple languages.
As an advanced clinical training program, trainees will engage in the study of music psychotherapy, and learn techniques and strategies. Trainees will also have a deeper understanding of the conduct of actual music therapy, case studies, individual and group supervision, as well as the experience of self-exploration by receiving Analytical Music Therapy sessions. The ultimate goal for this program is to deepen the trainees' understanding about psychodynamic theories and use of AMT improvisation in order to integrate their theoretical, practical, and experiential learning around their own clinical and personal work. When trainees meet all the requirements and competencies, the certificate of analytical music therapy will be awarded to them when they exit the program.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Board certified music therapist with Master's degree in music therapy or a related field, or matriculating in Master's music therapy program
- A minimum of 6 credits in Psychology
- Prior clinical experience
- Demonstration of improvisation skills & analytic thinking ability
- Readiness to work on a deeper level of music psychotherapy

Analytical Music Therapy Supervisors
Brian T. Harris, PhD, MT-BC, LCAT is a music psychotherapist in private practice in NYC. He holds a PhD in Expressive Therapies and is an adjunct faculty member at New York University and SUNY New Paltz. Dr. Harris is the founding director of the company Creative Arts Psychotherapy, and is the past head of the Pavarotti Music Center's music therapy department in Mostar, Bosnia where his work focused on children with post-war traumas. Dr. Harris is an analytic music therapy practitioner, having trained under Benedikte Scheiby. He is also a core faculty member of the Kint institute, which offers post Master's training in the use of the creative arts therapies and trauma. Dr. Harris has published and presented nationally and internationally and has worked for 20 years with a diverse range of populations including, LGBT clients, trauma, psychiatric, Autism, and Alzheimer's.
Juliane Kowski, LCAT, MT-BC, MA is a certified Analytical Music therapist, trained by Benedikte Scheiby. She is also a board-certified music therapist and Licensed Creative Arts therapist. Her professional career spans 20 years of experience working with children, youth, families and adults in psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, group homes, substance abuse programs, mental health agencies, wilderness programs and private practices in New York City, Jackson Hole, Wy., and now, the San Francisco Bay area. She is a trained jazz singer and voice teacher, and uses that background to deepen the connections of vocal psychotherapy in her AMT practice.
Currently, Juliane works as the director and mental health consultant for a consultancy program, "Child Care Solutions" (www.ecmhp.org) in Richmond, Ca., consulting with pre-schools, families and their children who are experiencing mental health challenges. In addition, she is a clinical supervisor for the Albany, Ca., school district in its elementary school-based psychotherapy program, where she trains and supervises interns. And, Juliane has a private practice, "Music Connects" (http://www.musicconnects.net) in Berkeley, Ca., working with children, families and adults suffering from trauma, grief and loss. She has been published with her AMT work in known music therapy teaching literature and frequently teaches at Northern Pacific University, as well as offering workshops about AMT for mental health agencies around the Bay area. In her spare time she derives great joy performing locally with professional jazz musicians.
Seung-A Kim, PhD, LCAT, MT-BC, Analytical Music Therapist, is Associate Professor of Music Therapy as well as the Director of the Undergraduate Music Therapy Program at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY. She received her PhD in Music Therapy at Temple University and currently holds credentials as a New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) and as a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC). For the past 17 years, Dr. Kim has worked with clients with developmental disabilities, cultural adjustment difficulties, stress and depressive symptoms, Alzheimer's disease, and neurological problems at a variety of clinical settings (i.e. day treatment centers, assisted living centers, rehabilitation centers, community centers, conservatory settings, and private practice settings). In addition, she has taught undergraduate and graduate classes and supervised music therapy interns. She developed a music therapy program for Korean immigrant families in NY and organized meetings for the Korean Alliance of Licensed Creative Arts Therapy and offered Creative Arts Therapy workshops to the Korean community. She has continued to collaborate with health professionals in this community to promote music therapy. Also, she is an Article Editor on Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy and serves on the AMTA Diversity Committee and MAR Assembly. She has lectured nationally and internationally, and published several chapters in peer-reviewed books. Her scholarly interests are Analytical Music Therapy (AMT), multicultural training utilizing music, cross-cultural supervision, and stress reduction.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT
Music Therapy: CMTE
This program is approved by the Certification Board for Music Therapists to award Continuing Music Therapy Education Credits. The number of credits varies each semester depending upon the workshop/course offered. The number of credits offered will be listed in the workshop/course description. The Provider maintains responsibility for program quality and adherence to CBMT Policies and Criteria for Continuing Music Therapy Education.
NYS Licensed Creative Arts Therapists: LCAT
Molloy College is an approved provider for CE credit from NY State for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists: approval number CAT-0015. This program is approved for CEU credit for Licensed Creative Arts Therapists. The number of credits varies each semester depending upon the workshop/course offered. The number of credits offered will be listed in the workshop/course description.
