- Penal
- Property
- Banking
- Civil Law

New York state preparation materials will be distributed. Instructor: Andrew O. Stein, J.D.; Director, Practice Area Content, LexisNexis/Matthew Bender. This is a one-session, 2 1/2-hour course that is usually given once a month throughout the year either in the evening from 7-9:30 p.m.

There are three basic requirements every new New York Notary applicant must meet:

  • You must be at least 18 years old.

  • You must reside within the state or maintain a business office in New York

  • You must pass the state exam

While New York Executive Law, Section 130 states that applicants must be U.S. citizens, the New York Department of State's Division of Licensing Services now clarifies that a Notary must be either a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States at the time of commissioning.   Further information on the notary public requirements can be found on the following NY State Division of Licensing Services webpage: https://www.dos.ny.gov/licensing/notary/notary.html
