New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
The College's Sustainability Institute won a competitive 2015 New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) grant. The award will provide almost $2.4 million over three years for the Long Island Complete Green Homes project, to be implemented by 10 partnering not-for-profit organizations and Long Island towns. For its role as lead applicant and coordinator on the project, the Sustainability Institute will receive $475,000. The Complete Green Homes program is designed to promote nascent clean energy industries on Long Island, including solar, geothermal, electric vehicles, carbon monoxide safety, and home energy performance contracting. Support of this program from Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Economic Development Council will help to create 21st century jobs in the clean energy sector.
In July 2015, Rauch Foundation awarded $150,000 over three-years in required matching funds for this initiative. The Sustainability Institute has been a recipient of funds from several other NYSERDA offerings.
