Hagedorn Foundation and the Horace and Amy Hagedorn Fund at New York Community Trust
At the end of 2012, Molloy received 3 year grant awards totaling $399,500 from the Hagedorn Foundation and the Horace and Amy Hagedorn Fund at New York Community Trust to launch Family Support LI. The overall goal is to integrate family support principles/practice into Long Island public and private family-serving agencies, and to change organizational culture to be more "family-centric." To date, close to 2,000 people have participated in professional development; a new course was created at Molloy to enhance student understanding of issues related to young families; a specialized assessment tool was developed to build organizational capacity related to family engagement; ten new collaborations formed to support young children and families; and, policies and related legislation have been promoted. Due to the success of this initiative, the grant was renewed for another total of $350,000.
In addition, the Rauch Foundation has provided a 3 year $15,000 grant (FYE 2016 - 2018) to help implement the National Family Development Credential Program, University of Connecticut, 30-hour Empowerment Skills for Leaders training on Long Island by underwriting the cost of participation. This training is geared for supervisory personnel in a position to change organizational policies/practices.
