The Solemnity Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Scripture - John 18:33B-37
Pilate said to Jesus,
"Are you the King of the Jews?"
Jesus answered, "Do you say this on your own
or have others told you about me?"
Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I?
Your own nation and the chief priests handed you over to me.
What have you done?"
Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not belong to this world.
If my kingdom did belong to this world,
my attendants would be fighting
to keep me from being handed over to the Jews.
But as it is, my kingdom is not here."
So Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?"
Jesus answered, "You say I am a king.
For this I was born and for this I came into the world,
to testify to the truth.
Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice."
Jesus tells Pilate this is who I am and this is why I was born, to speak the truth!!!
We judge people at times because of what we have heard from someone else about them. This can be truth or lies. If we live our lives as Jesus has taught us then we would turn against the rumors and seek the truth.
We are being told to be who we are meant to be, to live up to our own God given potential. Reflection by Patrice Clifford - Student Solutions - Molloy College and Brendan Caputo - St. Thomas Aquinas Program Councilor - Molloy College
Saint of the Day: Saint Cecilia
(Latin: Sancta Caecilia) is the patroness of musicians. It is written that as the musicians played at her wedding she "sang in her heart to the Lord".[Her feast day is celebrated in the Latin Catholic, Eastern Catholic, Anglican, and Eastern Orthodox churches on November 22. She is one of seven women, excluding the Blessed Virgin, commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.
