Molloy College Department of Social Work and Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service Collaborative Program at Molloy College present: John Briere, Ph.D. and Christine Courtois, Ph.D., ABPP at the Madison Theatre.
Dr. Briere will speak on "New Developments in the Treatment of Complex Trauma: Affect Regulation, Titrated Processing, and the Pain Paradox."
John Briere, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Southern California. He is also Director of the USC Adolescent Trauma Training Center of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. He is author or coauthor of over 120 articles and chapters, and 15 books. His most recent book titles include Principles of Trauma Therapy: A Guide to Symptoms, Evaluation and Treatment (written with Catherine Scott, Ph.D.) and Mindfulness-oriented Interventions for Trauma: Integrating Contemplative Practices (written with Victoria M. Follette, Ph.D.).
Dr. Courtois will speak on "Treating the Complexities of Complex Trauma: A Sequenced Relationship Approach" and "Post Traumatic Growth."
Dr. Christine Courtois, Ph.D., ABPP has lectured widely on the topic of trauma treatment for over 30 years. She is currently the chair of the guideline development panel for the treatment of PTSD for the APA, and has published many books including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, a co-authored textbook, Its Not You, It's What Happened to You, a consumer book, and Spiritually-oriented Psychotherapy for Trauma, an edited book.
Join us for a Post-Conference Workshop: Working with Dysfunctional and Self-injurious Behaviors in the Complex Trauma Survivor with Dr. Briere from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. (2 contact hours)
