Marsha Varghese: Marketing Major

Marsha Varghese, Marketing Major interning at CNN

Why did you come to Molloy?
I came to Molloy because of the scholarship I was awarded and the small class sizes.

What are the professors like at Molloy?
The professors at Molloy always make sure that students are performing at their best. They are willing to go above and beyond to ensure that students are receiving the most from their time at Molloy.

What type of internships have you taken?
I have just concluded my sixth internship during my time at Molloy. Prior to my internship with CNN, I interned at both Showtime Networks and NBCUniversal. I have accepted an offer with Nickelodeon under Viacom as an International Marketing Intern set to begin on June 3, 2019.

How is the campus life at Molloy?
Being a commuter student makes it challenging to participate in a lot of the various on-campus events that occur at Molloy. However, I found a true passion in participating in The Business Core 4 at Molloy. Being President of the club this year and being able to help other students land internships has been an extremely rewarding experience. Also, utilizing my position in the club to practicing my Marketing skills by using E-mail marketing and social media to increase engagement and attendance by 85% has been incredible.

What surprised you the most about Molloy?
I remember being very comforted by the strong emphasis that Molloy Business places on career development. It made me feel like I was going to be secure when it came time to graduate.

How did Molloy change your life?
Molloy changed my life most through pairing me with my advisor and mentor, Kisha Chandler. Her guidance over the last three years has been pivotal to my success not only in the business world but also in giving me the courage to expand on my artistic and creative side, as well. Her constant encouragement has resulted in the opening of my own online gallery and store.

What is your fondest memory of Molloy?
My fondest memory of Molloy would be presenting at Euroweek in both 2017 and 2018. After presenting at Euroweek 2017 in Portugal, I was able to have my research paper published in my freshman year of college. This continues to be a huge talking point in my interviews for my internships. My team and I also won first prize for best poster presentation in Euroweek 2018, held in Austria.
