Raising Funds for Those in Need

By Susan Alimonti

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Department is working on some important projects. In the coming weeks you will see our students selling raffle tickets and t-shirts to raise money for two causes. For Autism Awareness month, we will be "lighting it up blue" with blue Molloy T-shirts stressing the themes "Different not less" and "Autism Acceptance and Understanding". Our 2017 Long Island Autism Speaks Walk team is registered and accessible with the following link. Please join our team or donate at: act.autismspeaks.org. Half of T-shirt sales will go directly to our 2017 walk team.

We are also beginning our next fundraiser for the children and families in Jamaica, West Indies. Our current primary goal is to raise funds for a young man with Cerebral Palsy. This young man has a vibrant personality, but his motor limitations hinder his communication. To expand upon the compensatory strategies and materials we provided him during our last visit, we would like to provide him with a more technologically advanced communication device. Raffle tickets and remaining t-shirt proceeds will go towards this goal.

Thank you all for your ongoing support.
