Molloy Students Living the Mission at Annual Hope Day

On Saturday, June 2, 2018, once again Molloy nursing students along with Dr. Morgan-Eason volunteered their time and service for the Annual Hope Day New York 2018. On this day twenty-two local churches within the New York/New Jersey area, once again partnered with Convoy of Hope, one of the largest humanitarian relief organizations in the U.S. Over the past 16 years, Convoy of Hope has been active in 46 states and over 109 countries providing disaster response, conducting community events, and in directing nutritional programs and sustainability projects throughout the world. Their latest disaster response was to our own area of Puerto Rico.

These local churches on this day provide a Day of Hope for those who are in need or currently going through challenges with everyday living in a hope of transforming their lives. In Nassau County, Roosevelt, NY, was one of the sites, which Dr. Morgan-Eason was the site coordinator. The event gave free groceries, haircuts, family portraits, shoes, prayers and offered community services and free blood pressure screening and free lunches to over four hundred people.

According to Dr. Andrea Morgan-Eason, Associate Professor of Nursing, most of the students that participated were nursing students and all stated again that "they had a rewarding experience working with those in need in the community." One student Glennys Beato, thanked Dr. Morgan-Eason again for the opportunity to participate.

"Participating in Hope Day 2018 provided the opportunity of becoming part of a wonderful event focusing on the needs of others. It was wonderful to see how so many people came together as one to volunteer in order to serve the Roosevelt community."

"It was a wonderful time for all just giving back to those in need," added Dr. Morgan-Eason.
