Molloy Breaks Gala Fund-Raising Record
Molloy announced a record fund-raising total for its 2018 Gala, which was held at its Madison Theatre on November 2. The purpose of the annual event is to raise funds to support student scholarships.
"I'm pleased that we raised more than $675,000 for our scholarship fund," said Edward J. Thompson, Vice President of Advancement for the College. "The response to this event shows the passion our supporters have for Molloy and, specifically, our students."
"Our honorees this year represent what is so wonderful about not only Molloy, but the greater Long Island community," said Drew Bogner, Molloy's President. "We talk about the importance of everyone 'living their story' at Molloy, and these honorees are great examples of people who have done just that."
This year's honorees included:
- Joseph J. DePaolo, of Signature Bank, who received the Corporate Leadership Award.
- Elizabeth and Christopher Boylan of Rockville Centre, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
- Valerie Collins, Ph.D., '71 (also of Rockville Centre), Maureen E. Carey, Ph.D., '73 and Sr. Margaret Mayce, O.P., M.S., '73, who were designated as recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Entertainment for the evening was provided by The Midtown Men, featuring four members from the original cast of Broadway's The Jersey Boys. The singers thrilled the audience with a medley of hits from the '60s.
The event co-chairs were Salvatore Ciampo and Laura Farahani. The event was managed internally by Cynthia Metzger, Director of Corporate Relations.
