Molloy Announces Multi-year Sponsorship of E-sports/video Games

Molloy College announced that it has agreed to a multi-year sponsorship with NextGen Esports Productions in support of major e-sports events to be held on Long Island.

Under the terms of the three-year agreement, Molloy will be the exclusive higher education partner for four e-sports events to be held each year at NYCB Live/Nassau Veterans Coliseum. The first event will be held on December 2 at 6 p.m. and will feature Molloy and NYIT competing in Overwatch. Purchase tickets here.

The match will immediately follow an NBA G League basketball game featuring the Long Island Nets. That game begins at 3 pm, with spectators able to attend both the Nets game and the Overwatch match for a single price of $25.

"E-sports is extremely popular and growing every year. We are thrilled to partner with NextGen Esports Productions to put Molloy at the leading edge of this trend among Long Island colleges," said Janine Payton, Vice President for Student Affairs at Molloy. "We are also happy to see our own e-sports team growing."

Molloy currently fields teams in League of Legends (an official sport of the East Coast Conference) and Overwatch. Molloy will hold tryouts in January for scholarship offers for the 2019-20 academic year.

"We are pleased that Molloy has joined us in sponsoring e-sports," said Denise Gibson, Chief Marketing Officer of NextGen Esports. "NextGen Esports is excited to be hosting the first ever e-sports event at the NYCB Live Nassau Veterans Coliseum, and we will be bringing many more e-sports events to the tri-state area. NextGen Esports is proud to bring college and high school students together to compete, connect and socialize in the massive, exploding gaming environment."

NextGen Esports is an e-sports event producer, with multiple scheduled events with the NYCB Live Nassau Veterans Coliseum and the Mohegan Sun arena, in addition to smaller theatres in the Northeast. They have partnered with the NBA, WNBA, Microsoft, Twitch and Blizzard to offer amateur teams the opportunity to participate in arena events.
