Marquardt Signed by Long Island Nets

Molloy men's basketball alumnus Charlie Marquardt has been signed by the Long Island Nets, the NBA G-League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, announced by the team yesterday.
Marquardt joins two other former teammates, Jaylen Morris, who is playing with the Erie BayHawks, and John Petrucelli, who is with the Lakeland Magic. With three players, Molloy ranks among all Division II institutions for players in the G-League.
"On behalf of the entire men's basketball program, I am very proud to add another player to the NBA G-League," said head coach Charles Marquardt. "We all look forward to seeing Charlie achieve continued success in his basketball career."
In his time with the maroon and white, Marquardt solidified himself as one of Molloy's all-time greats. The guard graduated in 2017 as the third all-time point scorer, totaling 1,630 points in his four seasons. He also holds the program's single-game point record, scoring 51 in last season's East Coast Conference Championship game. He also tops the record books in career free throw percentage (86.9), career made three-point field goals (305), single-season free throw percentage (91.2), and single-season made three-point field goals (90). At the conclusion of last season, he was recognized by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association, and the East Coast Conference.
For Coach Marquardt, the pride goes beyond having a former player achieve success, however.
"As a father, I am happy to see all of the hard work, determination, and commitment be rewarded. I am hopeful that he can find success with the Nets."
Marquardt and Morris will face each other for the first time on Tuesday, December. 26 as the Long Island Nets host the Erie BayHawks at NYCB Live's Nassau Coliseum at 7 p.m.
