LIBN: LI College Makes Top 10 List

A Long Island college made the Top 10 "Best Value Roman Catholic Colleges 2017-2018" list, a newly released ranking by College Values Online.
Molloy College in Rockville Centre came in at number 10 in the ranking, which was computed based on tuition, graduation rate, average student loan debt at graduation and 20-year net return on investment for graduates.
According to College Values Online, Molloy's tuition is $29,100 and its average loan debt is $27,000. The graduation rate is 71 percent, while a graduate earns a $405,000 net return on investment over 20 years.
In cracking the top 10, Molloy joins prestigious company. The list was topped by the University of Notre Dame, whose tuition is $49,685 and graduation rate is 97 percent. Graduates leave the Indiana home of the Fighting Irish with an average loan debt of $25,300 and earn a 20-year net return on investment of $546,000.
Coming in second was Santa Clara University in California, followed by Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., Villanova University in Pennsylvania and Boston College in Massachusetts. Manhattan College in Riverdale ranked number 8, the highest in New York State.
"To be in the company of other schools in the top 10 like Villanova, Georgetown and Notre Dame is very exciting, and we believe it's a real affirmation of what we're trying to do in terms of bringing value to our students," said Ken Young, assistant vice president of marketing and public relations for Molloy, who noted there are 238 Catholic colleges in the United States. Young also said it was a "source of pride" that Molloy was "the only college in Long Island or Queens to make the list."
