Gifts of the Season 2018
By Barbara Novack

How quickly the branches empty,
how quickly the world turns brown
with a sharp blue sky and wind slicing
sunshine slivers on the ground.
Wrapped in wool from head to toe,
breaths misting in the air,
we hurry, scurry, to and fro,
too busy, hardly even there.
And then . . .
with evening shadows long
a rising melody, sweet, sweet song
and lights flicker to glittering life,
glowing red and green, gold and white.
The true season emerges,
lifting hearts high,
and how quickly we smile
and contentedly sigh.
Warmed from within, we give with love,
and we pray for peace warmed from above.
Light our pathway in this holy season, so we may bring the message of truth to those we serve!
