Hagan Nursing Center opened in January for the spring semester, and students, faculty and staff immediately fell in love with the beautiful new facility.  The Hagan Center features the latest technology in classrooms and clinical laboratories.  Seven laboratories include approximately 20 high tech simulator men/women and children that will allow the students to learn and practice clinical procedures, provide nursing care in various clinical situations  on these simulated people in preparation for working with real patients in medical facilities.

Despite some very challenging weather in January, Molloy is excited to see the steel structure going up on the new academic building.

You will see the addition of more and more steel for the remainder of February and into March. Once the steel structure is finalized, the floor decking will be added.  The addition of the walls will begin in late March as we begin the process of enclosing the building.

12/8/2014

  • The foundations are 95% complete. One remaining section is being left open to allow for access to underground piping and conduits, which are 80% complete.
  • The plan is to pour the lower level slab in early December. Drawings are being finalized by the steel subcontractor.
  • We are reviewing options for shoring up foundation walls in order to facilitate backfill prior to delivery of the steel.
  • Weather permitting, steel erection is projected to begin in early January.

9/27/2014

  • The footings (the base that the foundation sits on) are 85% complete
  • The foundation walls are 75% complete
  • Steel erection will begin mid-December

9/12/2014

The excavation is 100% complete. The footings (the base that the foundation sits on) are 75% complete and the foundation walls are 25% complete. You will see the completion of the foundation and foundation walls in approximately 6-8 weeks.  At that point, the steel work will begin.

7/18/2014

The south entrance will now be used as the construction entrance so as to not disrupt the rest of campus. Employees and visitors will still be able to access parking through the north and south gates.  For your safety, we ask that you follow instructions from our public safety officers and be aware of signage that will be put in place to assist with the flow of pedestrian and vehicle traffic on campus.  New walkways have been identified and are noted (in green and blue) on the campus map.  Additional parking will be provided behind the campus on which is now referred to as the rugby field.

Stay tuned for additional updates on this exciting addition to the Molloy campus.
