A Molloy Student Wins Design Competition for Second Straight Year
Last month the IDS (Interior Design Society) Long Island held its second annual Swatched2017 event at the beautiful Zicana stone showroom in Westbuty, N.Y. It was a fun filled evening where professional interior designers and student interior designers competed before a panel of celebrity judges to create an extraordinary design board in just one hour. A group of celebrity designer/industry judges oversaw the final design boards and picked a student winner, a grand prize winner and three runners-up. The food and prizes were amazing, and a portion of the proceeds were given to each of the celebrity judge's charities.
Nichole Garofalo from the Interior Decorating Program at Molloy College was chosen as the student winner. This was the second year that a student from Molloy won in the student category. Ellen Miller, a former student of the program took the first prize in the professional designer category.
"This was a testament to the dedicated students and the strength of the design program at Molloy College, stated Marie Byrne, interior designer, teacher and IDS Long Island Swatched2017 committee member.
