The Sustainability Institute at Molloy College invites you to the 2017 NY Vegan Living Program

Want to go vegan, but need some help and support? Be a Vegan Pledge in the 2017 New York Vegan Living Program! The Vegan Living Program (VLP) is a FREE educational program that covers the how's and why's of living vegan, including the ethical and environmental considerations of veganism, nutrition, cooking, meal planning, and living vegan in a not-yet-vegan world.

2016 NY Vegan Living ProgramParticipants pledge to live vegan for the duration of the program, with the help of volunteer Vegan Coaches and our educational program. Pledges receive a binder full of resources and recipes, and a goody bag of free vegan stuff to make the transition easier and more fun! Most classes are free and open to the public, so no one misses out on the valuable info. It's clear that more and more of us are interested in addressing animal exploitation, tackling climate change, and concerned about our own health. In fact, according to search engine giant Google, the search interest for "vegan" is on the rise, increasing 32 percent in recent years. Whatever your motivation, the Vegan Living Program is designed to provide you with the support you need, and to build a community of like-minded individuals.  The Vegan Living Program originated and has been held with overwhelming success for the past 7 years in Baltimore, MD by Open the Cages Alliance.

This will be the fourth year that the VLP is offered on Long Island. The Sustainability Institute at Molloy College and Open the Cages Alliance are teaming up again to make the 2017 NY VLP the best one yet! Join us for this life-changing program!    

Registration and Ways to get Involved

Must be vegan for at least one year to be a Vegan Coach. First-time Coaches, please see Orientation info on registration form!

  • Interested in veganism, but not ready to pledge? Come to the educational sessions! (Only Pledges & Coaches must pre-register).
  • Volunteer!

Schedule

The Vegan Living Program is held on consecutive Saturdays, June 3 - July 1 2017. The four VLP educational sessions and graduation listed below are required attendance for Vegan Pledges and Coaches. The first three educational sessions are open to everyone, but to be a Pledge or Coach you must attend all four!

  • June 3, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Coach/Pledge Intros & Introduction to Veganism, Cooking Demos
  • June 10, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Vegan Nutrition with Registered Dietitian, Kerri Foxhill
  • June 17, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - The Environment & Living Vegan FAQs
  • June 24, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Field Trip to Skylands Animal Sanctuary
  • July 1, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. - Graduation Celebration

All sessions except June 24 will be held at the Molloy College Suffolk Center, 7180 Republic Airport, Farmingdale, NY 11735. On June 24 we will take a field trip to Skylands Animal Sanctuary in Wantage, New Jersey.

Sessions held at Molloy College Suffolk Center are free. However, a $10 per person donation to Skylands Animal Sanctuary is requested for the tour. Donations go directly towards feeding and care for the sanctuary animals.
