The St. John's Bible at Molloy College

The St. John's Bible Project Illuminating the Word of God at Molloy College

"The word is made fresh and dwells among us."

In 1998, Saint John's Abbey and University (Minnesota) commissioned calligraphers and artists to produce a hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible. As a Catholic College, we honor the integration of an ancient Church tradition with the technology and vision of today, illuminating the Word of God for a new millennium.

The College aspires to utilize the artistically engaging vehicle of The Saint John's Bible to better articulate, celebrate and animate the faith experience of our own Molloy Community and the broader Long Island community. It is our intention that, through contemplative groups, symposia, course offerings, and community gatherings, the College will ignite the spiritual imagination of persons of all faiths and at all points on their faith journey.

To begin our journey with The Saint John's Bible, Gospels & Acts is presented for viewing in the central display case here in the lobby of Kellenberg Hall. Reproductions of illuminations and texts from other volumes of The Saint John's Bible are presented in the wall cases along the first floor hallway.
