Time Away from Work and Leave of Absence for Administrators and Staff

Q. Is FMLA Leave paid?

No, FMLA allows eligible employees time to care themselves or immediate family members who are ill. During approved FMLA leave, an employees job will be held open. Molloy's Extended Sick and/or Paid Family Leave policies often run concurrently with FMLA leave and explain how the employee will be paid while on leave.

Q. Who does my time sheets while I am out on leave?

Q. I am pregnant; will I be able to receive Paid Family Leave during my pregnancy?

PFL only begins after birth. It is not available for pre-natal conditions. Pregnant Molloy employees should apply for both FMLA and Extended Sick Time for the time immediately following the birth of their child. (6 weeks for a regular birth, 8 weeks for c-section) PFL can be requested at any point during the new babies first year of life.

Q. Will I be able to use Paid Family Leave if I work part-time?

In most instances, yes. You must work 175 days part-time to be eligible for a PFL benefit.

Q. I am collecting workers' compensation. Will I be able to use Paid Family Leave?

If you are not working and are collecting workers' compensation, you may not use PFL.

Q. Will I have to take all of my sick time and/or vacation before I use Paid Family Leave?

Molloy will permit you to use vacation and/or personal leave to achieve full salary replacement, but will not require you to use this time.

Q. Can I take Paid Family Leave and use my sick and/or vacation time together so that I receive my full salary?

Molloy will permit you to use vacation and/or personal leave to achieve full salary replacement, but will not require you to use this time.

Q. Does my health insurance continue while I'm on approved leave?

Yes, provided you pay your contribution towards the plan.
