Assistant / Associate Professor in Special Education

The School of Education and Human Services at Molloy College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in Special Education to begin in the 2020-2021 academic year.

Molloy College, an independent Catholic institution based in Rockville Centre, NY, was founded in 1955. The College serves a student population of approximately 4,500 undergraduate and graduate students, Molloy students can earn degrees in a variety of outstanding academic programs, including nursing, business, education, social work, music therapy and many more.

Specific Duties:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to design and deliver high quality courses for students with diverse learning needs
  • Teach and facilitate learning activities in a blended learning environment
  • Teach and facilitate learning activities in a blended learning environment
  • Teach and advise students in their program progression
  • Attend division and college faculty meetings, serve on committees, and participate in other college activities
  • Keep current in theory and practice related to program content

 
Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications (All applicants must):

  • An Ed.D. or Ph.D. in education with a concentration in special education
  • Have a depth and breadth of knowledge of teaching students with diverse needs
  • Evidence of successfully using technology to teach graduate online/blended courses for a minimum of two years
  • Possess effective interpersonal skills - able to work with diverse, adult populations in academic and professional working relationships
  • Have a record of scholarship and research in the discipline

Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications (Preference will be given to candidates with):

  • Evidence of knowledge, skills, and experience in Special Education
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Established research agenda as evidence by recent peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • Active participation in academic/professional organizations
