GENERAL PURPOSE

The Assistant Director of Campus Life is primarily responsible for student leadership development and engagement on campus. The focus of this position is to provide students with opportunities to further develop as individuals and as members of the larger community through intentional programmatic efforts. This position assists the Coordinator of Campus Life in serving as the administrative liaison to all student clubs and organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, implements and facilitates leadership development programs and trainings for students. This includes, but is not limited to, leadership workshops, summer leadership conferences, Title IX and Bystander Training, diversity training for student leaders. Presents on workshops during RA training, Orientation training, leadership trainings.
  • Serves as the primary advisor for Molloy's National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), a nationally recognized leadership honor society. This includes oversight of all requirements for NSLS from invitation to induction - communication and outreach efforts, facilitating orientation, leadership training days and speaker series, approving student submissions, and holding honor society inductions on campus.
  • Submits room reservation requests/facilities work orders for student clubs/organizations. Oversees content and student/club use of life.molloy.edu/CORQ - Molloy's student engagement platform.
  • Manages petty cash for student clubs/organizations, and assists with club budget oversight.
  • Assists Director of Campus Life in planning, implementing and managing larger campus events including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation and Lions Leadership Forum. Assists with all Commencement events. Serves as part of on-call administrator rotation for campus. Serves as event contact for night and weekend events. Serves as lead planner for Family Weekend.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree required in  Education, Counseling, or related field.
  • Three to five years' experience.

KNOWLEDGE

This position requires a higher level understanding of best practices in higher education, specifically Student Affairs, leadership development theory, and exemplary customer service. It also requires excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

COLLABORATION/ SERVICE

This position requires both internal and external communication and collaboration. This includes coordinating not only within Student Affairs, but also with other departments on campus, and with outside organizations and vendors as well.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May recommend the following: employee hiring; disciplinary action and input on performance evaluations.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Desktop computer, including spreadsheet and word processing software; copy machine; fax machine, printers, and scanners.
