Music Therapy

All assistantships are available for September 5, 2014. Positions are 10 hours per week for 15 weeks. Recipients receive three (3) graduate credits a semester and a $500 stipend at the completion of the assistantship. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in at least six (6) graduate credits to qualify. Positions will be filled as complete packets (application, resume and two references) are received in the Human Resources Office. Positions may be eliminated if not filled in a timely fashion and/or if budget has been expended. Please apply to the Human Resources Office, first floor, Kellenberg Hall 112, by August 1, 2014.

Position title: Graduate Research Assistant (4 positions)


First position: Research: Organizing and cataloguing music therapy database from archival and contemporary clinical work. Data collection and analysis at Rebecca Center for RCT in progress. Assisting with literature reviews for secondary studies at Rebecca Center. Developing "library" of thesis abstracts, cataloguing and organizing. Developing "library" of Nordoff-Robbins audio and video recording (lectures and clinical work).  Work with the Director of Rebecca Center, Clinical Director of Center for Autism and Director of Faculty Research.

Second position: Music: Accompanying for recitals and juries. Supporting and assisting undergraduate music therapy students with musical skills. Tutoring in theory, harmony, and instrumental assistance. Playing music for college wide events.

Third position:
Grad Music Therapy Liaison: Manages Job board and list-serve, promotes Music Therapy workshops, and assists with conferences. Resource for prospects. Organizational and clerical responsibilities as determined by the Director of Grad Music Therapy.

Fourth position: Undergraduate Clinical Supervision: Organize and provide guidance for UG observation students at the Rebecca Center.  Select sessions to view, provide information, facilitate discussion and insight.


1. Research: Organizational skills, music therapy background, research and data collection skills
2. Music: Highly developed musical skills and training. Music teaching experience.
3. Grad Music Therapy Liaison: Organizational skills, good interpersonal skills, able to prioritize responsibilities. Computer skills.
4. Undergraduate Clinical Supervision: A Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy and/or Graduate Assistant has completed MUS 505, 506, and 508 prior to being able to supervise UG students.

Hours: Flexible ten (10) hours/per position
