Career Development Center

All assistantships are available for September 5, 2014. Positions are 10 hours per week for 15 weeks. Recipients receive three (3) graduate credits a semester and a $500 stipend at the completion of the assistantship. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in at least six (6) graduate credits to qualify. Positions will be filled as complete packets (application, resume and two references) are received in the Human Resources Office. Positions may be eliminated if not filled in a timely fashion and/or if budget has been expended. Please apply in the Human Resources Office, first floor, Kellenberg Hall 112, by August 1, 2014.

Position title: Graduate Assistant


In an effort to enhance the services and programs provided by the Career Development Center, we are seeking a Graduate Assistant for the 2014-2015 academic years. The Career Development Center is a student service office that provides comprehensive career counseling and advisement to the students and alumni of Molloy College. A Graduate Assistant would primarily focus on the following areas to improve the Center's activities involving employer relations/engagement and student services/programming.

  • Assist with data collection, assessment and development of senior employment survey. Design a plan to reach out to graduating seniors and conduct appropriate follow-up with recent graduates in order to accurately collect employment data.
  •  Conduct research to identify target companies and organizations to recruit for job and internship opportunities for students and alumni. Obtain appropriate contact information from those organizations and companies. Update and maintain the employer contact database using CSO, the Center's online career management system. Begin outreach efforts with a formal introduction via telephone and e-mail.
  • Assist Career Development Center staff in the coordination and execution of campus special events and programs. Specifically, create and implement a mock interview/resume review event for students in order to prepare them for the Spring Career Fair.
  • Assist in maintaining communication with students and faculty by disseminating information regarding job openings, internships and event notifications.
  • Assist in maintaining online job boards and answer any student/alumni questions as needed. Conduct research for student resources containing relevant career, job, and internship information to update the Center's resource library.


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, good research skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams. Supervision/management experience preferred. The ability to be professional and maintain strict confidentiality is a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Publisher).
  • Knowledge of Internet/online research applications and general communication technology.

Hours: Flexible. 10 to 15 hours per week.
