2019 Commencement Ceremony

Commencement is an important time in the lives of our students and at the College. All Faculty, Administrators and Staff are welcome to attend the 2019 Commencement Ceremony. You must already have academic attire if you wish to march in the procession. You are also welcome to sit with friends and family in the audience. Seating in the audience does not require academic attire. Please read below for further details on Commencement. You may wish to print out (PDF) and retain this handout.

Monday, May 20, 2018 10:30 a.m. - Molloy College shuttle bus service to the Coliseum will depart Kellenberg Circle at 10:30am and will return to campus immediately following the ceremony. Please RSVP here by Thursday, May 16 to be included on the shuttle.

11:30 a.m./11:45 a.m. Parking and Arrival at Nassau Coliseum - Parking is free and tickets are not required for Commencement. Those participating in the march must arrive by 11:30am. Please leave all personal belongings in your car, as there is not a secure place to store valuables during the ceremony. Enter Nassau Coliseum through the Main Gate via Hempstead Turnpike. Upon entering the Coliseum, proceed to the Lower Level and follow the signs to the Faculty/Administrators/Staff Line Up area.

12:30 p.m. Line Up - You will form two lines starting with the School Deans, followed by Faculty, then Administrators, and Staff. Faculty do not line up by School. If you wish to sit with a colleague, the colleague should be directly in front of you or behind you in the line.

1 p.m. - Below is the Line of March (inbound): Bagpiper (Stops at the last row of chairs; off to the side. Does not process up to the front of the stage)

  • Honor Guard - American Flag and Molloy Flag
  • Lisa Newland, Marshal
  • Deans for the Four Schools (Two by two - Will split at stage)
  • Nicholas Fargnoli, Faculty Marshal
  • Faculty (In two lines with split at stage)
  • Administrators and staff (In two lines; Will split at the stage)
  • Alumni Board/Anniversary Class (In two lines) - Reserved seats - section 2
  • Janine Biscari Students by School (In two lines)
  • Platform Group (In two lines)

You will be directed to a specific row and seat. Sitting in the stands will allow the Deans/Faculty/Administrators/Staff to see the stage and to be seen by the students.

Preseating Available Deans, Faculty, Administrators, and Staff processing in need to be able to walk up steps. If you prefer not to process in, you have the option to be discreetly pre-seated prior to the start of the Ceremony. If you wish to be preseated, please indicate so on our RSVP site.

Line of March (Outbound) and Faculty Honor Guard

At the start of the Alma Mater, the top row of Faculty/Administrators/Staff on either side will stand and walk down the steps to the ground level to meet Nick Fargnoli, Faculty Marshal and Lisa Newland, Commencement Marshal at stage center. Wait for Alma Mater to end and Faculty/Administrators/Staff will process out after the platform party.

  • Nicholas Fargnoli, Faculty Marshal
  • Faculty (In two lines) (Will form an Honor Guard)
  • Deans of the Four Schools
  • Administrators and Staff (In two lines) Will continue the Honor Guard
  • Alumni Board/Anniversary Class (In two lines) will continue to exit the hall
  • Janine Biscari will lead the students through the Faculty Honor Guard
  • Students by School (In two lines)

Nick Fargnoli will continue to lead the Faculty/Administrators/Staff past the last row of chairs, to form an Honor Guard along both sides of the aisle. Continue to extend the Honor Guard along the exit aisle. Please stand close to the person next to you to maintain the Honor Guard formation. The Honor Guard extends from the last row of chairs to the exit from the Coliseum.

The graduates led by Janine Biscari, Vice President for Student Affairs, will process out of the Coliseum between members of the Honor Guard.

As the last graduate passes through the Honor Guard, Nick Fargnoli, and part of the Honor Guard, will step out of the Honor Guard into the aisle. He will lead the platform party followed by the Faculty, Administrators, and Staff through the Honor Guard to the exit and the conclusion of Commencement 2019.
